Welcome to the Sabbatical 2007/08 page of John Barnes

After spending the past twenty-five years, teaching mainly within the further and higher education sector, I decided to undertake some time out from my work as a lecturer and to travel and visit other cultures and communities. In particular, I was interested to see how these other places might engage with using technology as an educational resource or as a facility within their own settings. So, in August 2007, I started my time on sabbatical.

It proved to be a most interesting experience and one in which I met many new people and made many new friends. The links at the top of this page will bring you to the three main places of my time on sabbatical namely Kerala and Tamil Nadu in India, the Iona Community in Scotland and the University of Cambridge in England.
